mysql - Trouble connecting to Amazon RDS using RMySQL using SSL -

following on previous reply question, i'm using rmysql connect amazon rds instance. can connect without ssl, prefer connect on ssl using provided certificate ec2 instance. method seems work fine using sequel pro.

however, when attempting same connection in r using rmysql package, next error:

class="lang-r prettyprint-override">library(rmysql) con <- dbconnect(mysql(), default.file='~/desktop/mysql.cfg') error in mysqlnewconnection(drv, ...) : rs-dbi driver: (failed connect database: error: ssl connection error: ssl_ctx_set_default_verify_paths failed )

in add-on regular authentication parameters, mysql.cfg file contains path .pem file provided amazon, (e.g., ssl-ca='~/.ssh/file.pem'). missing additional parameter?
