i confronted unusual situation not understand. run java-swing test application, reads arab-utf8 hard-coded strings, builds simple jxtable , shows utf8 strings on column. application executable jar run command

java -cp test.jar org.test.maintest

if there need can attach code of application. application shows arab characters if run on windows, or mac not hp-ux. talking hp-ux b11.31 running jdk 1.7.0.0.05. please note checked character settings @ possible levels on hp-ux system. @ java level default encoding utf-8 (file.encoding) and, @ swing level, default font used jxtable (and enclosing panel) dialog , font tested hard-coded arab string method candisplayupto(string x) returns -1 (all characters displayable). don't understand that, moment strings fed swing, manipulate java strings utf8 compatible, or should definition.

is aware of hp-ux utf8 encoding/decoding java/swing? there escapes me, should check? help appreciated. thanks.
