ios - UITableView Content inset unexplainable behaviour -

i have view controller uitableview declared in storyboard. view controllers has "under top bars" alternative selected (edge rect). view looks below image.

there no gap between cells of tableview , navigation bar.

the filter in right bar button item presents filter view controller modally , when returning (dismiss), there content inset (additional) added (by don't know who). final looks this.

i have tried set content inset in viewwillappear, viewdidlayoutsubviews etc. nil seems work. has ever come across similar kind of problems? how can remove contentinset.
