this may foolish question i've been searching around time , don't see clear answer. i've seen several microcontrollers advertised running unix-like software (linux, ubuntu) example, beaglebone black , arduino yun. can please explain me benefit of this? far i've used couple of microcontrollers arduino uno/duo, freescale frdm , stm32 discovery either didn't have feature or not aware of it. i'm starting see more , more on newer microcontrollers i'd know brings table.
full disclosure: i've had minimal exposure unix , variants far please talk , utilize little words =)
hope hear you, yusif nurizade
you complex drivers included linux free (usb, net protocols, storage media , file systems).
you can utilize lots of free software things not included in kernel.
it simpler develop software on total os (easier debug, going on, alter configuration, etc etc).
the drawback real-time capabilities worse little rtos, , needs more resources (a couple of megabytes memory).
