javascript - Form Submit Listener prevent form submission on IE8 -
i have set universal analytics tracking website using google tag manager , have had success using form submission listener track different form submissions. came attending today users in ie8 unable submit login forms. login forms native forms on site, whereas other forms added via javascript eloqua.
as disable form submission listener, ie8 users can log in without issue. because user could have log in on page of site, i've had disable form tracking now.
form html
<form class="login-prompt__form" method="post"> <div class="input input--text"> <input id="username" name="username" placeholder="username" type="text" value="" /> </div> <div class="input input--text"> <input id="password" name="password" placeholder="password" type="password" /> </div> <ul class="button-group"> <li> <button class="btn btn--med" type="submit" formmethod="post" >log in</button> </li> <li><a href="/login/recover-password">forgot password?</a></li> </ul> </form>
absolutely no javascript errors generated. thoughts?
we have similar issue no javascript error.
in our case there google tag manager document level
document.gtmformactionfunction()
and there jquery submithandler assigned. haven't figured out how these 2 play nice yet other removing 1 of these.
the next article helpful in identifying issue. http://www.simoahava.com/analytics/dont-gtm-listeners-work/
they cite event propagation needs work document node recommending replace appropriate:
return false;
with
event.preventdefault();
javascript forms google-tag-manager
