Git Pull fatal: Couldn't find remote ref HEAD -

git newbie here. trying luck vps running on ubuntu 12.04 x 64 deed private repository development. thought might seek luck git. have installed git on remote server , initialized git repository sitting on /var/www directory. develop php apps seek set code go www commits tested , there instead of moving users' folder in www.

i trying pull remote repo. using git extensions handle git requirements on windows computer.

however, when seek pull info remote repository below error.

c:\msysgit\cmd\git.exe pull --progress "horizon" :refs/remotes/horizon/master fatal: couldn't find remote ref head fatal: remote end hung unexpectedly done

any thought on have done wrong?
